This is just a quick little drive-by to remind everyone to take just a moment to vote for Lifting the Digital Curtain at Pepsi's Refresh project. I have been voting and watching it steadily climb in the rankings this week. With the power of Daily Kos behind it, there is no reason we can't move it to the top!
The point of the project is to lift that digital curtain and help underserved communities learn to use new media effectively for activism. It's a grassroots idea that will bring more people, people who don't necessarily have a voice now, into the national discourse. It's an admirable and important goal that you can read more about on the link above.
Besides it being a nice goal, I'm excited about the project because I've seen the Pepsi Refresh project at work in my own area. A small business, a store for handcrafted goods, wanted to add classroom space to their place. They feature local artists and wanted to allow those people to share and local folks to learn. It took two tries, but they won their Refresh grant! It really does happen! I voted for them throughout the process. It was easy to register with Pepsi and I never got a single spam out of it. We might as well use corporations for good when we can!
So, easy sign up, daily voting just till the end of the month, the power of Kos and a big win for the Netroots! Won't you sign up?
