My apologies for the short diary, but the talk I hear on the radio is that the NFL owners want the players to re-certify their union by Tuesday, and the nay-sayers are saying it can't be done.

But it can, using card check. If 50% plus one of NFL players sign a card saying they want their union re-certified, it's done. Period. Take it to the bank.

And what's cool is that all those Republican NFL fans who hate the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) without knowing what it is, hating it because FOX and Rush told them to hate it - now they can learn that the EFCA is card check.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    •  at first I thought 3 to 5 business days (0+ / 0-)

If the deal is good. But there are 8-10 things the owners fudged or left out.

The owners totally jumped the gun here, theyre real close, I think the owners vote was premature.

  •  The NFL wants a certified union (0+ / 0-)

They need a union for these 2 main things:

The NFL Draft & the behavior policy.

Those are not part of the agreement with the NFLPA and can only be agreed to by a certified union.

  •  I LIKE this card-check idea (0+ / 0-)

for all the reasons the diarist noted. It would give the whole idea a great deal of publicity and correct the propaganda that has been spread against it.

I also love the idea of management sending out a bunch of anti-union thugs to try to intimidate THESE employees.
"Youse guys on the defensive line had betta vote the right way against a union, or your health may take an unfortunate turn."

"Hey, mofo. Step over here and say dat to our faces: "Killer", "Monster","Bad-Ass", and "Tiny"."

....."In local news, 33 men all on the same bus were admitted to St. Louis General Hospital at about 230am. The bus had not been damaged or in an accident but there was no driver, just the bus pulled up and left by the emergency room door.
The men aboard were all suffering from numerous broken cheekbones, cracked ribs and back bruises consistent with body slams. Also among them they only had 57 teeth that were uncracked.
Police are investigating, but the men are unable or are refusing to talk......"
