Hello and good Sunday morning everyone!
It's been a few days that I wished I could sleep through. On thursday morning I developed an eye infection of some sort. My left eyelid is swollen and my eye itches... really really itches. I've been to a physician and I have been to an ophthalmologist. Both are in agreement that anti-fungal eyedrops and small dose oral steroids are the answer. Their unanimity is encouraging, but the results of the treatment have been unimpressive thus far.
My eyelid remains swollen and sore and my eye remains itchy.... really itchy. Sleeping for any real length of time is not possible. Attempts to do so quickly fall into a cycle. Lay down and try to ignore the itchiness. Flip and flop. Try controlled breathing and basic meditation. Drift off into the early stages of slumber and lose mental focus as a result. Reflexively rub itchy eye exacerbating the inflammation and causing enough discomfort to cause me to wake up. Try to ignore the itchiness. Flip and Flop. Try controlled breathing and basic meditation...
So here I sit, deprived of sleep and eating a bowl of cereal so that I can take my steroid pill. I have to wonder about the wisdom of giving a man already irritated by an incessantly itchy eye that can't be scratched and a few days of relative sleeplessness a treatment of steroids.
Perhaps what is needed in this instance is some humor to serve as a prophylactic against me going all Lou Ferrigno around here.
Rowan Atkinson is always good for a laugh:
If you haven't seen it before, or even if you have, this show is one of the funniest comedy shows you could ever hope to see. Every skit, it seems, is funnier than the one that preceded it.
Of course it's not comedy that you come here to find , is it dear reader? Nope! Music, that's the thing! So, let's get to making with the grooves already!
(It took me an extra 20 minutes to write this diary because I cannot interrupt Branford Marsalas' sublime performance on this recording.)
Eye hope that you've enjoyed the music as much as eye have this morning. The kids and eye want to thank you for the time that you have shared with us this morning. We hope that you will join us in the comments section to post some tunes and keep the groove alive or just to enjoy some good company.
Remember, Todd and Lila love you.
