Since we now have a gaggle of hitherto closeted Constitutional scholars all fired up and ready to rock the nation, I thought it might be helpful, a public service really, to remember things that, like "separation of church and state," are not in the Constitution. Feel free to add to the list. Here's mine:
Capitalism
Corporation
Wall Street.
Regulated market
Free market
Market.
Big government
Small government
Limited government.
Republican Party
Democratic Party
Tea Party
Political party.
Filibuster
Secret hold
Signing statement.
Church
Prayer
God.
Conception
Fetus
The right to be born.
Homosexuality
Heterosexuality
Sexuality.
Family
Child
Marriage.
Rendition
Torture
Revenge.
While we're at it, again, strictly in the spirit of public service, here are a few things that are in the Constitution:
No religious test for public office.
The power of Congress alone to declare war.
The power of Congress to tax.
The power of Congress to borrow.
The power of Congress to regulate commerce.
The power of Congress to promote Science and Useful Arts.
Habeas corpus.
Due process.
Forming a more perfect Union.
Promoting the general Welfare.
Justice.
