Just Lost a Propaganda War?
Would you like to change the dynamics of that? Then do everything you can to help get the truth out there starting with letting everyone you know what bush/cheney actually left in their wake.
As most at kos know there has been a massive PR campaign to whitewash the bush era disaster. David Axelrod puts the lie to that campaign in one short graph in an article published last Friday in the Washington Post:
The day the Bush administration took over from President Bill Clinton in 2001, America enjoyed a $236 billion budget surplus -- with a projected 10-year surplus of $5.6 trillion. When the Bush administration left office, it handed President Obama a $1.3 trillion deficit -- and projected shortfalls of $8 trillion for the next decade.
If you haven't seen it yet, read the article and pass it on. Remember when discussing and e-mailng it to friends, acquintances and teabaggers, stick to those above quoted numbers. They are devestating, put the lie to many of the complaints about Obama and clearly illustrate how bush/cheney helped steal everyone's future.
It's going to take some work to undo the mess they left behind and everyone has to be made aware. Paul Krugmanmakes some fine points about how the gaming of this has been going on for some time now and there's no sign of it stopping anytime soon.
The point here is to make it your duty to help keep others informed. Most people are too busy in their everyday lives to be around when the de-bunking of MSM lies and narratives happen. People see the headlines and ledes and tend to believe them. You can't blame the average guy for having too many concerns in this economy to be aware of all the media malfeasance.
So bury the MSM outlets in the truth. Do it every day and do not cease until the media starts to reflect the truth more accurately. We'll never have a fourth estate unless we fight like hell for it. That much is clear and that is the lesson to take from Tuesday's MA leection.
Truly, how else can you explain a guy with this kind of judgement winning Ted Kennedy's seat?
