You know, it's been a while since I last wrote something so I thought I'd offer up a few more of my musings. Last night as I was watching 60 min. on TV last night I saw something refreshing....
I saw a man who wasn't defined by his title. I saw a man that was trying to live as close as possible to what can be called a "normal" life while doing the best job he possibly can as the president of the united states. Clips like this one.

When I saw this, it didn't come off as staged, or pre-planned. It showed how normal the guy is and how he's trying to look out for other families who do have kids and don't have the luxury of having their homes less than 1min away from their workspace. It further humanized the president. Made him seem like a regular guy. A father among many. Then I remembered this clip I caught on ESPN a while back with the president at the Wizards game when the Bulls came to town.
Came off as a regular guy. Sat down front row, didn't clear out the normal fans to make way for Obama. He sat down like a regular fan, didn't worry about looking all prim and proper. Had a beer, talked trash with a Wizards fan when his Bulls were on a roll, and got some trash talk back like a normal fan. It's refreshing to see moments like this. I can't wait to see more like it. It's nice to know that with all the power Obama has, he hasn't let it go to his head, and tries to maintain an sense of normalcy in his life as much as can be allowed by the Office he holds.
His appearance on Leno is also proof of this. That he is willing to make jokes about himself, yet be serious at the same time. He understands the gravity of the situation, without letting the situation overtake him. People want to say that he shouldn't have done Leno, but I think him doing Leno shows he's willing to connect with the people, and be more hands on with the American public than our previous president.
