My kids are cuter than Obama's. Maybe. His are very cute, but I'm biased and think my kids are the cutest in the world, so I think I trump him there. And I'll add that whenever he gets his dog, that my dog will definitely be cuter than his. But that's it. That is the sum total of where I best him.
Obama is smarter than me (and you).
He went to better schools and got better grades than us.
He gets along with people better and is more popular than us.
His knowledge of the issues of the day is greater than ours.
His abilities to bring people together are superior to mine and to yours.
His calm demeanor and ability to remain calm under pressure is highly unusual.
He may not be more honest and have more integrity than us, but in these matters he is certainly our equal.
I think we actually did pretty well for ourselves, electing this guy president. If I was a conservative, I would NOT be happy with him at all. So how about we progressives give him the same consideration we've given other Democratic presidents to make presidential decisions, at least for a few months?
Clearly many here think he is a total dumbass incapable of choosing his own cabinet members and incapable of deciding whether one or two of them deserve to be fired. Many here think that his naívte is so epic that he doesn't even realize how bad his own decisions are. Clearly many here do not trust Barack Obama to actually wield power for more than six weeks without telling him in no uncertain terms that his intelligence, knowledge of the issues, intimate knowledge of his cabinet, AND the fact that Americans came together to overwhelmingly elect him are not relevant.
Disagreeing with him on issues is not the problem. Dictating to him those decisions that he is in the best position to make is a problem when it is done by Democrats not two months into his term. Has he not earned our respect, at least for a few months?
