I live in Fort Worth Texas, in a Democratic neighborhood, and I just stood in line for 30 minutes to vote.
Why does this matter, because I am 40 years old and have never in my life stood in line to vote, no matter where in the state I have lived, never, not once, not for 3 minutes. Today I stood in line with my daughter and looked around at so many young faces, waiting to vote, hoping for change.
Anytime a first time voter signed in and mentioned that they were a first time voter to the poll workers, it was announced to those of us in line and we applauded. It didn't matter who we were in line to vote for, we were all there to participate in our country and her future. There was such a feeling of unity in that line. I do not believe that this feeling of unity would be possible if not for the incredible campaign of Barrack Obama. His campaign of hope and unity made this line possible and I am grateful. For the first time in my voting life, I look around at my fellow Texans and don't think ahh another Republican. Today I looked around the line and thought another American.
When we got back to the car, my daughters took my phone and called their grandparents and their dad just to tell him that we had just voted to change the world. I am so very proud of our country today and what I believe we are about to do.
