The give away is done in the Senate and unfortunately BOTH of our candidates for President have bowed to special interests and supported a pork laden bill. This is a disgrace and it shows that NOTHING WILL CHANGE when they (whoever) gets to the White House. This was their first test. This bill allowed us to see them in action. Consider this bill a "test drive" of sorts.
They failed. Return the car and go home to the dealer.
What started as a crucial bill which needed to be passed to save America from economic ruin and depression has become nothing more than a pork laden disaster. Nothing has changed. Take what is a critical issue and load it up with every piece of pork you can find then vote yes for it. Here are some examples right from Title III of the bill:
- Section 308: Increase in limit on cover over Rum excise tax to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
- Section 309: Extension of economic development credit for American Somoa
- Section 310: Extension of mine rescue team training credit
- Section 315: Accelerated depreciation for business property on Indian Reservations.
- Section 317: Seven year cost recovery period for motorsports racing track facility.
- Section 503: Exemption for Excise tax for certain wooden arrows designed for use by Children.
The test for this bill would be whether anything would change in Washington and the answer is an emphatic NO. This is the more of the same. Take a bona fide crisis and use it to pork up the spending of the United States to "give aways" for things that have absolutely nothing to do with the crisis.
My favorite is that there actually is a provision dealing with what insurance companies have to pay in dealing with mental health claims. How ridiculous.
I am not here to argue the merits of each of these pieces of pork. What I am here to do is to point out that this is "business as usual" and it is what is driving this Country into the Ground.
Mr. Obama.. you FAILED your first big test. Mr. McCain.. YOU FAILED as well... shame on both of you.
