Bloggers like to write, so this should be a project you can all sink your teeth into -- and it's a quick, easy way to provide the Obama campaign with some real, on the ground assistance in Pennsylvania!
Women for Obama are organizing a postcard campaign to help deliver Pennsylvania for Obama. They are asking us to spread the message and ask Obama supporters to participate in this important project.
We want women in Pennsylvania to know that they do not have to buy into the hype that women should vote for Hilary simply because she is a women. We want women in Pennsylvania to know that despite political pundits' yammerings, there a thousands of women across this nation who support Obama.
This Post Card Campaign is being strategically organized in conjunction with the local Obama GOTV campaign.
Just a note: Although focus will be sending postcards from women who support Obama to undecided women in Pennsylvania, guys can still participate -- they'll send your postcards to undecided voters too!
You are invited to join women volunteers across the US in writing postcards to women in Pennsylvania that asks for their vote for Barack Obama. I hope that you will consider participating.
The goal is to write at least 100,000 postcards by April 7th - together we can achieve this goal! Other groups are already participating. Now, let's show them what DailyKos can do!
If you want to participate, or if your want to help coordinate postcard writing in your area, but you have questions, post your questions in the comment section, and I will try to answer them.
Here is how to participate in 3 easy steps:
STEP ONE: Individually or with other women in your community, purchase 10 or more postcards for each of you to write along with post card stamps. If possible, purchase postcards that represent your city or state.
STEP TWO: If writing postcards in a group, organize/host a Postcard Party to get them all written and posted at the same time. Each postcard message should be brief and to the point - no more than 2-4 sentences on a postcard. The following provides sample language:
Dear Fellow Voter,
I voted (or I am voting) for Barack Obama for President because he is the best candidate to bring our country together to solve the problems we are facing. This is the type of leadership we need right now. I hope that you will vote for Barack too.
Sincerely, (Sign Your Name, City and State)
STEP THREE: Put a stamp on each card, leave the address sections blank (both To and From will be addressed by the Obama campaign), and bundle your postcards together in an envelope or box. Mail your packet of postcards to the following address no later than Monday, April 7th:
WFO Post Card Campaign
193 E. Rich Street
Columbus, Ohio 43215
If you want to see if someone is already hosting a Postcards to Pennsylvania Party for Obama in your area, you can put in your zip code at MyBO to find out.
Note: I am not actually part of the group in Ohio who will be receiving and addressing these. I am just a volunteer who is hosting one of these postcard writing parties in another state. We were asked to help get the word out, so I thought... DailyKos!
