I am occassionally inspired to do something festive for the holidays and I'm in a particularly ghoulish mood. I was inspired by a comment I made on bonddad's diary Record Current Account Deficit = Countries Selling Dollars. So, I thought I'd create a drink in honor of our Veep so we'd remember what we were fighting for in Iraq. I call it The Cheney (aka Blood-for-Oil). Though it might be tasty the rest of the diary is probably in poor taste. The question is will Martha Stewart: serve this drink at the White House?
Now, I've not tried this experimental recipe, so if you do try it, you do so at your own risk. You do a shot of a red liqueur followed by a glass of stout beer chaser. I'd highly recommend cinnamon schnapps and a Guinness. You could use a shot of vodka with a splash of tabasco and red food coloring. Alternatively, you could get a can of Guinness or Murphy's and shotgun it after the shot, though I'm not sure how shotgunning a can with a widget in it will work.
I am making up this as I go along and I've had a thought. Now there are two drinks. The Cheney and The Katrina. The Katrina is a shot of vodka or rum with a splash of tobasco dropped in a glass of brown ale or any darker beer. It's another variation on the boilermaker. The tabasco/vodka shot represents New Orleans and the dark beer represents the waters of Katrina in New Orleans. So you must drop the shot in the glass then toss it back. Back to The Cheney.
The Cheney has two variations. The Cheney I will probably be a shot of vodka or rum with enough cinnamon schnapps to make it hot and red. If it's not red enough, add a drop of red food coloring. Before tossing it back, you don't need to drop the shot in the glass of stout but you can. You want the burn from the shot (blood) before quenching it with the glass of stout (oil). As for The Cheney II, it is the same shot but followed by shotgunning the can of stout.
If you decide to try any of these drinks and serve them to your conservative friends, don't tell them what they are called until after they have consumed the concoctions. I'm planning on giving one or both of these drink recipes a try soon, but if anyone else gives them a try let us know.
