Because of Kerry's recent bobble of the punch line of a joke about President Bush, I regret to announce that I will not be voting for John Kerry on November 7th, 2006.
I won't be voting for him for Congress. I won't be voting for him for Senate. I won't be voting for him for Governor.
That'll show him.
Yes, that was sarcasm. I think the one thing we need to be stressing is this:
Kerry's not running for anything. Nor is John Fitzgerald Kerry the Party spokesman. This whole thing is a Republican attempt to get us off message. Let's not fall for it.
The next time someone brings up "what Kerry said," don't get bogged down in an argument about botched jokes" and "what he meant to say." That stuff sounds lame and weak. Just answer, "Whatever, I'm not voting for him. I am voting for [insert candidate here]" and get back on track.
I'd like to see this adopted as the Dems' national media strategy as well, but I don't know that it will be.
