Much has now been written about this sensational and successful
killing by the US military. The question is, what does this mean to the US Military and the War in Iraq. My initial posting at
The Command T.O.C. remains my opinion: Congratulations to the US Military and Good Riddance to this monster!
This guy was a disgrace and he was truly our enemy. I am not a "no war" guy I merely want a good strategy, a good set of tactics and the truth coming from our Government. When there is a monster like this person in the world, I have no problem with dropping 2 500lb bombs on his head.
Now, as for people who believe this will change the war dramatically, I say, don't be over zealous. Remember, we toppled and captured Saddam and things have become
worse since then, not better. Our tactics still remain a disaster (not enough troops, no exit strategy, no success strategy) and we still have the moron Don Rumsfeld in charge of the DoD.
I will also say that it is a disgrace that CBS news even publishes questions of whether US troops beat Al Zarqawi to death when they showed up. First, I say, "who cares"? If they beat him, shot him or crapped on him, I could care less. Second, there is no shred, not even close, of evidence that this may have happened. This is the equivelant of the National Enquirer finding some quack who says something, anything, then using that as a "quote" to build a story. CBS is a disgrace on this one.
