This is my first diary and it commemorates my first ever politcal rally that I attended last night. The rally was for Tony Trupiano who is running for U.S. congress in Michigan's 11th District. Mr. Trupiano is a very dynamic speaker (he is a former progressive talk radio host) and he said all of the right things for me. He supports a woman's right to privacy, he wants to give equal rights to same sex couples (just short of marriage though, he thinks that the country isn't ready for that), he wants a single payer health care plan in this country, and he wants to make college education a right for all U.S. citizens(K-16).
He also said that his first piece of legislation that he would introduce would be to raise the minium wage. His second piece of legislation (which he acknowledged that he most likely would only be a co-sponsor to a bill authored by Rep. Conyers) would impeach Bush. He faces a tough battle with Rep. McCotter. Although McCotter's career in the House has been less than stellar he still manages to raise a lot of money (with the help of Delay) and he wins elections. Check out Mr. Trupiano's web site www.tony4congress2006.com and support the next congressman for Michigan, Tony Trupiano. Mr. Trupiano will be guest hosting the Ed Schultz show this Friday, so check him out (I hope that doesn't mean that Ed Schultz must give McCotter equal time).
