Sorry but this is a false narrative that bugs the heck out of me.

Women ret the EXACT "credit" for bing in a combat zone that men get.

    They get the same awards.

    Same combat tour credit.

And it has NO bearing on promotions.  None.  Nada.  Zilch.

Yes, being in combat is a good thing for most soldiers as far as promotions go but since women compete with peers only, being excluded from Armor, Infantry and Artillery does not impact them.  Those are not their peers.  The only way it impacts them is if for example they are a Quartermaster officer and all the other Quartermaster officers in their peer group have done combat missions and they haven't.  But since they are Quartermaster the assignment of combat missions is the same for men and women.

I have three "combat" tours.  I have a peer one desk over, female, with 3 combat tours.  Our ORBs (Officer Record Briefs) look identical.  From my conversations with peers in the other services (Im Army) they are the same.

So many people are using a 1970's argument for a 2013 issue.    its not the 70's.

It is well that war is so terrible -- lest we should grow too fond of it. Robert E. Lee
