I drove a cab in Boston, actually Brookline, for about 13 years, from '75-'87. The first couple of scenes are from that time, the last from a few months ago.
I remember picking this large fellow one night & when he gave me the destination it was apparent he was an Aussie. "You know mate, there is something very wrong with your country." It's not like I hadn't heard that from any number of foreign citizens, Ronald Reagan was a world wide joke, but not being sure what he was referring to, I asked him what he meant.
He told me he owned a manganese mine in Western Australia, way out in the middle of nowhere - a two hour plane ride to anything you could call a town. He had been coming to the states on business every year for the past ten years or so. One of his stops every year was Chicago & he had become close friends there with a taxi driver.
