Contrary to widespread belief, Medicare For All is in fact supported by at least a plurality of the US public.
This should be emphasized because in campaigning for national health insurance many of us seem to think that we are fighting against majority opinion. That is false. Despite the deafening silence and ignorance about a Medicare For All type plan in the media, the concept of a federally funded universal health insurance system has wide popular appeal.
One counterargument that is often heard against this is that polls will come out differently depending on the language that is used. That is completely true but misses a basic point: polls where people are found to not support Medicare For All or a public option are often not actually about either.
