Hi everybody this is a rerun from a year ago. Been in Hawaii lately didn't get much done
If you harken back to a couple of months ago I was finishing the front upstairs Bedroom?office? The windows needed trim and so I got that done finally: www.dailykos.com/…
So then I finally turned my attention to finishing the central light fixture in this room. I scratched my head about what to do about this for years. Oh, lets say 12 years. It took this long because, well, it was hard. There’s a big gap around the existing box that had to be covered for one thing. So here’s what it looked like to start
What to do, what to do. Part of the problem was, like every other electrical box in this house, the wires only protruded about 1” from the box. (code: 6”) This is not uncommon but I never understand the psycology of it. this makes it REAL hard to install outlets and light fixtures. Figure whenever you see it, it’s a sure sign the person who did this was not a pro electrician, but an ignorant amateur who’s probably just copying what he saw somewhere else.. So what to do. I went with pigtailing longer wires to the short ones.
I also had to put in a new and bigger box with a wood piece to cover that gap
So here’s the fix i came up with, showing it as it evolved.
[OK so I’m having some trouble with the formatting here. The pictures aren’t coming out in the proper order, can’t keep the narration going under the pictures and I’m tired and I just don’t want to keep fucking with it.. I don’t get paid for this. They won’t be in the proper order but I’m going to number these pictures in the proper order so you can get the idea)
So anyway, thats what I’ve been doing lately, how about you?
